The Science of the Sound

Why a Bowl Can Reset You

A struck bowl is not just a sound — it's a physical wave. Here's what makes the Kyimolung bowl resonate the way it does.

01 — CYMATICS

Visible Vibration

Water in the bowl ripples into geometric patterns as it sings — proof of the standing wave moving through metal, air and you.

02 — THETA BAND

Tuned to Calm

Each bowl is hand-tuned toward the low, slow frequencies the mind drifts into during deep rest and meditation.

03 — SUSTAIN

A Tone That Lingers

Dense bell-metal bronze holds the note far longer than thin modern alloys — one strike carries through a whole breath cycle.

Our Story

Made by Hands That Learned From Hands

Kyimolung means "happy valley" — the hidden sanctuary of Himalayan lore. We work directly with artisan families in the workshops of Patan, where bowls are still raised from a single disc of bronze, struck thousands of times by hand.

Nothing here is mass-pressed. Every bowl carries the small irregularities of the hand that made it — and the sound is richer for it.

“We don't make instruments. We pass down a vibration.”

From Our Community

Carried Into Daily Practice

“The sustain on this bowl is unreal. One strike and the whole room softens. It's become the first thing I reach for in the morning.”

Maya R.Yoga teacher

“The lapis mala is even more beautiful in person — the gold flecks catch the light. It feels weighted and real, not like the cheap dyed ones.”

D
Daniel K.Daily meditator

“You can feel it's hand-made. The hammer marks, the weight — it's the calmest five minutes of my whole day.”
